Madhya Pradesh is a landlocked state located in Central India. It is the second-largest Indian state by area, bordered by Uttar Pradesh to the northeast, Chhattisgarh to the east, Maharashtra to the south, Gujarat to the west, and Rajasthan to the northwest. Madhya Pradesh has an area of approximately 3,08,000 sq. km. The state hosts BPCL’s Bina Refinery, located in Sagar district, one of India’s key inland refining hubs.

Madhya Pradesh ranks 2nd in terms of area and 5th in terms of population in the country. Its nominal GSDP is approximately USD 60 billion (2021-22, RE). The state has emerged as a growing hub for renewable energy projects, including solar power, owing to its high solar insolation and availability of land, positioning it favourably for green hydrogen production tied to captive solar power generation
