- In December 2022, Ocior Energy has signed MoU with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy- Egypt, represented by the New and Renewable Energy Development, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), for development of green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in Suez Canal Economic Zone
- The Project is located in Suez Canal Zone an ideal location for production of competitive green ammonia. This is due to the presence of abundant resources, its proximity to a major global shipping port, and its close proximity to European demand markets.
“Egypt is a transcontinental country spanning the northeast corner of Africa and southwest corner of Asia via a land bridge formed by the Sinai Peninsula. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip of Palestine and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west. The land has a total area of 1,001,450 km² (386,662 mi²) and a total coastline of 2,450 km (1,522.4 mi). Egypt has one of the largest economies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Egypt is at the forefront of developing the GH2/GNH3 ecosystem with foreword looking policies and is a magnet for GH2/GNH3 investments. As part of its commitment to accelerating energy transition, Egypt has introduced a range of incentives designed to promote the growth of green hydrogen and green ammonia. Egypt has hosted COP27 in November 2022, demonstrating its commitment to achieving a sustainable future.”
